ROCKTIMES Germany reviews “Breaking and Entering”

WOW Rocktimes what a blazing review!

“Her voice is ‘THE HAMMER’… (Translator) From Detroit already many great bands or artists came. Now the Blues rock voice Eliza Neals is introduced and added. It’s not that she has brought with “Breaking and Entering” their first album on the market. The discography of Eliza Neals started in 2003 with “I’m Waiting”. Followed in 2005 by “Liquorfoot” and 2008 she published “No Frogs For Snakes”. A concert impression bot “My Style Live”, also published in 2008 and for “Messin With A Fool” (2012) received the Detroit Music Award. In addition, she was the winner in the category of best songwriter. Some other local prices decorate their showcase.
Eliza Neals is not only a great singer with the roughness of a Maggie Mackenthun
(Kozmic Blue) but plays the piano on the Hammond B3 to Rhodes also various keyboard instruments, it brings in some of the songs on the present disc used. Eliza Neals’ name shows up in eleven of the twelve songs in the credits. Whether original compositions or written in a team with others, all testify to good ideas.
The protagonist has first-class musicians at her side. From the line-up stinging Howard Glazer, Kenny Olson (including Sheryl Crow, Five Horse Johnson, Eric Gales, Kid Rock) and Mike Puwal (Insane Clown Posse, train Izland, Barrett Strong and others) out.
“Breaking and Entering” contains twelve songs that you can sort justifiably in the category Blues Rock. Exceptions are almost always proves the rule. “Sugar Daddy” is has a by Barrett Strong, an artist with the Eliza Neals collaborated, written piece and it has a wonderful R & B / Soul mood. Here we served Tyrone Smith a class staged saxophone accompaniment.
The opener “Detroit Drive” you will have taken a great rockin ‘blues atmosphere in reception. Howard Glazer has shouldered the Dobro, the Bottleneck slipped and served us the first solo strings of the disc. As mentioned above, you do already here the acquaintance with Eliza Neals huskily. However, her singing moreover still has very different qualities. She understands it excellent to wind up the phone even with a fine softness around her finger.
The title track “Breaking and Entering” is a mix of slow blues and midtempo excitement. Again Howard Glazer is to hear this time at the Guitar. Hammer, who leaves at entschleunigter speed crash and the sounds at all these little over seven minutes, an emotional high-pressure line of the 12-stroke engine. Eliza Neals brings exuberant feelings. Even while she feels authentic in every second. For Howard Glazer, it is a real challenge to follow this spiritual, twofold Delfin Alto on his work unit.
Time-trimmed a bit, but in no way less on the chest, the title shows as ‘Radio Edit’ at the end of the plate a second time and is still a hammer track.
Detachment of the electric guitar. For “Jekyll And A Hound” Mike Puwal takes over the lead strands and is not a whit weaker than Howard Glazer. Wow, this high energy is indeed hard to believe. Solo Guitar for third parties: In “You” and “Southern Comfort Dreams” is then Kenny Olson with the furious fray. Erstgenanntes piece is a bit quiet but the steam is refreshed repeatedly in twelve strokes pot. Not once has the listener feel that here equal to the lid flies through the ceiling. So you served Blues hardness at a high level.
“Windshield Wipers” is then the ultimate dynamic ballad of impressive disc. “I’m The Girl” is the wah wah pedal guitar sound and great piano or Hammond sounds of Tyrone Smith to radio offshoot. “Spinning” has moreover even psychedelic in his veins.
“Breaking and Entering” … welcome to the circle of very good blues rock releases.
