Blues great Joe Louis Walker & blues-rock powerhouse Eliza Neals backstage at the Hudson River Park Blues Festival NYC 2024

Mr. Joe Louis Walker a giant to the ‘musicians musician’ has passed…

Hudson River Park Blues Festival 2024 w/ Blues Hall of Fame Inductee and Grammy Nominee Mr. Joe Louis Walker performing “Hello Mr. Blues.”

😔Heavy heart I bring you this sad news my good friend Joe Louis Walker has left this mortal coil. Thank you for your wonderful guidance, words of encouragement, blinding truth & magical times. Mr. Walker was exceptional as a musician but a marvel when he sang angels listened💧

I got to hang backstage that day as it was two years since he invited me to the Mustique Blues Festival. We talked shop “how hard it is to have a working band,” “the road,” “booking agents,” quirks of life and health. He told me stories of who he met across the world and how music has given him opportunities and heartache and to take the good over the bad. My drummer John who was in Joe’s band popped in and out with my man HJ. Looking back I can’t believe this is the last two hours we would talk …

Joe gave to everyone he met all of himself. The audience that day was swept up in his voice from this song to “I’m a Soldier for Jesus” fighting on the front line. We all touched the heavens that afternoon thanks to Joe Louis Walker his amazing voice, beautiful guitar work and fabulous band. Rest in Paradise 💙
