Blues in Britian Blues-rock classic “Black Crow Moan”
BluesinBritain Magazine Issue #223 July has a very cool interview 3 page spread + Stellar Review of #BlackCrowMoan 🖤 Here’s #NormanDarwen’s review “Eliza is a blues-rock vocalist out of #Detroit who has been recording since the late 90’s when she was mentored by Legendary #BarrettStrong ‘Money (That’s What I Want) fame. She has really come to the fore over the last few years – she has been a regular visitor to these UK shores too. ‘Black Crow Moan’ – This is a very impressive album, a strong yet subtle set, a storm right from the opening #NorthMississippi #slideguitar riff. Listen to the title track, one of the two with #JoeLouisWalker guesting with his supporting vocals and fine guitar playing adding to what would have been an impressive and fiercely original blues piece anyway. A further trio of numbers feature guitarist #DerekStHolmes a close associate of rockstar #TedNugent, and his formidable guitar work is in sync with Eliza. Also, some #psychedelicBlues on ‘River is Rising’ which seems to be influenced by the late 60’s blues rockers #Free. The sole non-original track here is ‘#BallandChain’ a tribute to #JanisJoplin (as opposed to the song’s composer #BigMamaThornton) as judged by Eliza’s vocal performance and Derek hits that late 60’s blues-boom solo perfectly too’. The overall impression of this set is of an artist at the top of her game, confident, sassy and sure of what she wants. In my humble opinion this is something of a #bluesrockclassic.”
