Blues Matters UK reviews “Colorcrimes”
Blues Matters has just dropped their Digital issue of the latest with #ModernBlues Music #ColinCampbell got to listening to #Colorcrimes and had some very “Highly Recomended” things to say THANKS #BluesMatters!
“Eliza Neals, the modern blues-rock virtuoso, is back with a compelling #message forged through years of artistic evolution. Her latest release was apparently grounded in the raw and #electrifying environment of the stage, designed to offer solace to the souls navigating a turbulent world. The audience’s emotional response to her live performance was so profound that Neals felt compelled to immortalize “Colorcrimes” in the studio. The title track carries and obvious message on race relations and oozes feeling. “#BannedinJackson” is a personal plea relating to sexual stereotypes and, Eliza is not one for backing down on this funky blues tune about her self-image. Capturing #lightinginabottle with every track with an array of fine musicians, featuring the influence of one iconic #songwriter; Barrett Strong Jr. from Detroit. He co-wrote three tracks and brings a legendary touch of authenticity to the album. Also of note is guitarist, co-producer and songwriter #MichaelPuwal. His #slideguitar adds a genuine bluesy texture that complements Neals’ powerful vocals and storytelling on tracks like the opener “#HealthisLand.” The mood lightens with tracks like, “#SomethingsBetterThanNothing” celebrating, gratitude. “Love Dr. Love” is a funky tune about infatuation. “#SugarDaddy” tells of a clingy lover. “#CandyStore” features an enchanting organ solo by #JohnGalvin. “#FoundMeAnother” has classic rock vibes, and “#FridayNight (All Day Long)” is an anthem for weekend revelers to finish off the release. #Highlyrecommended, an infectious fusion of soul, blues and. groove.” by COLIN CAMPBELL
