Two J Blues captivating Sweet Or Mean review

“Eliza is a titled singer from Detroit with an extremely expressive, rough and very characteristic voice. Often this way of singing (a little bit like Janis Joplin) can be a match and usually works better in concert conditions. However, it is completely different in the case of Eliza! Her singing is captivating from the very first sounds, because this enchanting style is followed by her enormous musicality.”

Thank you Two J Blues Poland! What a thoughtful captivating review. I had to translate your words using google and I know it can be a bit rough around the edges. Thank you for listening so intently and understanding me as an artist.

Sweet or Mean is the latest EP of Eliza Neals, an American singer, pianist and author of all songs on the album. Guest recordings were attended by Pop Chubby (Ted Horowitz), a well-known bluesrock guitarist from New York who is also responsible for arranging the songs and the product of the album.

Eliza is a titled singer from Detroit with an extremely expressive, rough and very characteristic voice. Often this way of singing (a little bit like Janis Joplin) can be a match and usually works better in concert conditions. However, it is completely different in the case of Eliza! Her singing is captivating from the very first sounds, because this enchanting style is followed by her enormous musicality. This is not a soundless attack on the listener with sounds, but very stylish and closes Chicago’s energetic rock n roll, and you can find various musical inspirations between. There is one Latino song (Bitten By the Blues), in which Chubby’s guitar sounds isice, “Santana”, and Eliza also works perfectly in this style! There are also two eletrical blues – Blackish Gray and, “hard” settled Livin With Yo Mama, in which the dialogue between Eliza and Ted causes almost sparks! They both give a blues phrase and excellent work dynamics. They prove that they are great improvisers and interpreters of this genre. And it would seem that nothing better after these Latin and blues climates are no longer waiting for us, but the album still has a real gem – a duo of major heroes titled Knock Knock Knockin, which is a way towards acoustic blues and Delta climates. And this is also a very successful exposition of these artists!

The album “Sweet or Mean” doesn’t play, it just burns! It’s wonderfully dirty and a lot of musical passion! I would highly recommend! by Bozena Mazur
